We do not not have to sell the item for the advertised price in the event that it is a genuine mistake. This is in compliance with the Fair Trading Act 1986. The Act protects the consumer against being mislead or treated unfairly by retailers. It also protects retailers when genuine mistakes occur with pricing errors.

Products

At The Ivy House our focus is on hand made, individual items. These products will, by their nature, vary and we feel this is part of the beauty of these items.

Please consider the characteristics of these products in your choice and ensure they are right for you. The Ivy House takes seriously the happiness of its customers and we are always happy to speak with you before making a selection on 09 373 3396.

Armadillo

The Armadillo range of rugs is individually produced on looms powered only by traditional artisans.  No mechanical assistance is used during the weaving process.  By choosing to make their rugs by hand, Armadillo has made a deliberate choice to embrace the organic natural variation that is evident in the rugs. Machine made rugs are more likely to appear ‘perfect’, but essentially featureless, lacking the characteristic slubbing and individual weaving technique that gives handmade rugs their unique beauty.

Armadillo rugs are individually handcrafted items and as such they are subject to the following variations, which are not considered faults or defects:

1. Size: being a handmade article, the size can vary by +/-3% from the size ordered.
2. Colour: the Products are made primarily from natural and undyed fibres. Every effort is made to ensure there is minimal colour variation, however some variation can be expected.
3. Fading: placing rugs in direct and continuous sunlight will cause them to fade. Charcoal colour products will fade in natural light/sunlight. Some colour may transfer on light coloured surfaces. Rotate your rug to minimise damage caused by natural light.
4. Design & Construction: minor variations may be evident, which is due to the fact that the Product is a handmade item including line/weave thickness.
5. Shading: due to changes in pile and weave direction, shading may occur and is a natural characteristic of carpets and rugs.
6. Shedding: our hand made rugs are made from all natural fibres. Natural fibre rugs will initially shed loose fibres, this is a normal process. The removal of any loose fibres will be hastened by regular vacuuming using a good quality upright vacuum cleaner.
7. Pilling: pilling can occur due to traffic, moving furniture, vacuuming or other mechanical agitation. This can be trimmed with scissors.

8. Pop ups: due to the type of weaving, there will be short fibres popping up while the rug settles. This can be trimmed or pushed through.

Comprehensive care instructions are available on the Armadillo website here

Warranty: Armadillo rugs are handmade and are therefore unable to have an unconditional warranty. However, we will repair or replace any rug if it is defective during the 12 months from the date of purchase provided the rug was used for normal household purposes and maintained in accordance with the care instructions.

Any improper or negligent use or neglect will void this warranty. The warranty applies to household residential use only and not to any commercial, contract, rental, trade, institutional or other non-residential use. If you wish to make a claim under this warranty, you must provide photographic evidence to support your claim.

If you have any concerns regarding your rug please contact us to discuss. We will ask you to provide:

- the invoice number and date of purchase; and

- a top shot of the product with two close-up images of the defect.

For the avoidance of doubt, a product is not defective if there is a manufacturing variation referred to above.

Custom Orders: items ordered specifically for a customer cannot be cancelled or returned if the customer decides the customer no longer wants the item(s).

Quadrille Fabrics

The Quadrille range of fabrics are handprinted fabrics, milled in the US. Colour variations can occur and the nature of a handprinted textile provides an inherent 'imperfectness'. Cushions and bed sets made from these fabrics are made locally because we love the quality of the workmanship. If you would like to view the specific item you are considering ordering please email hello@theivyhouse.co.nz so that we can send you photos.

Handprinted fabrics require due care; they must either be steam cleaned or professionally dry cleaned. We of course recommend using an organic dry cleaner whenever possible. Machine washing is not recommended as it will cause fading to occur, and please note that our fabrics are intended for indoor use only, unless specifically stated otherwise e.g. Quadrille Suncloth.

Furniture
Please ensure that furniture selections will fit into your home and the chosen room. The cost of any returns in these circumstances will be your responsibility.

Colours may vary between computer screens. If you are unsure or are concerned about slight variances in colour please contact us to discuss; we can most likely arrange photos of the specific item(s) you are considering to be sent to you. The colours on the website are represented as best as possible but we cannot be held responsible for wrong choices or incorrect colour variances between computer screens.
